By Dave Duffy I mentioned in my podcast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDd7f4fHYxQ) I have had inklings that SF should be Joint now for a while.  I had never entertained such a blasphemous thought of opening up Green Berets to the other services until 2006 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), which mandated the expansion of Special Forces.  Up until that point, the Army had been more than a sufficient recruiting pool to find those individuals with the unique psychological and physical profile to excel as a member of the Special Forces.  These individuals must excel at working in ambiguous environments in a decentralized manner with little guidance or oversight, assisting indigenous forces in denied areas  to conduct special operation activities.  Ultimately, of course, these men are conducting Unconventional Warfare.
